Meditation: Day 203

There is evidence that mediation has cognitive benefits including improved memory. In the past, I have always had difficulty maintaining a daily mediation practice. I resolved to change that this year and started meditating on January 1st. So far I have manged to  meditate everyday this year, first for 10 minutes a day, now for 15.

One of the tools that has helped me is the Insight Timer, available as a smart phone and tablet app.

The Insight Timer has a nice bell tone to begin and end meditation sessions. It records your progress and awards you stars for days completed. It also has a social media feature that shows you how many people are meditating at any given time and allows you to participate in on line group discussions.

To get a sense of the serious scientific research on meditation go to Google Scholar and type in the word “meditation.”
