Did Hitchcock’s birds suffer from amnesia?

It may surprise you to know that Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Birds was based on a real incident. In the summer of 1961 thousands of sea gulls began flying into the sides of houses and other structures, killing themselves.

Now there is evidence that the birds were suffering brain damage from consuming domoic acid a marine biotoxin. Last week, I blogged about the dangers that domoic acid poses to human health.
