A few weeks ago, BoingBong posted this educational (and incredibly sexist, “whoever heard of a girl airplane pilot?”) video about blasting caps from 1957. It brought back memories of the anti-blasting cap campaign of my youth. I remember well fire fighters coming to my school with tales of the dangers of blasting caps and visual aids to show us what to be on the look out for. Instead of frightening us, I think the main effect was to encourage us to look for these dangerous objects. The visual aids were very helpful, but we never found any.

Oh that wonderful 50s mentality that the Earth is something to be conquered to make way for humanity. Now the Earth is having its say in the matter.
Don’t remember blasting caps. The video was produced in the year I was born. The video is so funny. Reminds me of Ozzie and Harriet. What a different world!
