For sometime now I have been using the Misfit fitness tracker to record my daily level of physical activity and monitor my daily goal of 10,000 steps. The Misfit does a pretty good job of recording my steps, but it also claims to monitor sleep quality. I have wondered about the validity of this measure.
On Tuesday night I had the opportunity to test this to the test. Like many Americans, I could not fall asleep glued to the radio coverage of the election. I got almost no sleep that night. The Misfits, however, assures me that I had 7 hours and 13 minutes of sleep, 6 hours and 20 minutes of which were “restful.”
Placebo? Or super-placebo?
